Boost Builds Optimism

Among those groups pleased with the continuation of the boost after June 30 and its gradual phasing out are the Real Institute of Australia, Mortgage Finance Association of Australia, Housing Industry Association and Urban Development Institute of Australia.

The inclusion of established homes in the extended grants has pleasantly surprised some pundits who had tipped that only the new-homes portion of the boost would remain after June 30, if at all.  The boost remains available until September 30 with $21,000 for new homes and $14,000 for existing homes.  From October 1 to December 31, the grants reduce to $14,000 for new homes and $10,500 for established homes.  From January 1, the boost grants will cease.
